For the second year in a row, Danielle Strauss ran the Holiday Parade that goes around Swampscott, on December 10th.

Danielle Strauss, the recreation director of the town of Swampscott, has been honored to put on this parade for the second year in a row.  In hopes of spreading holiday cheer throughout Swampscott and it’s neighboring towns.  The parade features many things to see, including the fire and police trucks from all the surrounding towns, as well as a bunch of decorated trucks and jeeps.  Even Santa flies down from the North Pole to wave at people as he passes by.

Other events include Ice-Skating in front of the town hall, and the gorgeous tree lighting ceremony that makes the town glow with amazing holiday lights.

Even if you do not like the cold, the town holds a bake sale from the local girl scout troop, a gingerbread house display from the local elementary schools, arts and crafts to do in the First Church of Christ across the street, as well as a photo booth, and Irish Step Dancers.

Danielle Strauss said, “I think everything has worked out really well, and I think the town appreciates and enjoys it, and I think it’s a great community event.”  She also says that next year she plans on taking on the Candy Cane Hunt so that the younger people can go and find Candy Canes around the Town Hall yard.

Even though we do not know when next year's parade will be, the town is excited to have another festive evening where the town comes together.
